Melissa L Gustin, PhD
I am an art historian and curator specialising in art, sculpture, and art history from the eighteenth century to the present. I have worked on the Pre-Raphaelites, neoclassicism, and archaeology, with publications in the US, UK, and EU.
I am currently working on a book and series of articles on George Frederic Watts's painting and sculpture in relation to developments in the field of art history during his lifetime, from Pheidias to Rodin, Michelangelo to Mary Watts.
I am broadly interested in women artists, archaeology, queer and feminist theories, 3D printing and scanning, contemporary sculpture, mushrooms, and mermaids. Additionally I have an active craft practice and interests in contemporary craft including ceramics, glass, and textile work.
